Discover the big data technology for business expansion

Tim Groot, CEO and Co-Founder of Grip, looks at how matchmaking technology can harness better networking at events and whether it signals the end of traditional networking. Meeting over, there are various networking tools available that allow users to connect quickly with those they have met during an event. However, this is as far as it may ever go, raising the question of whether random networking is a waste of time. There is a more efficient way to harness smarter technology for better networking that ensures you can learn far more about who you should be connecting with before a face-to-face meeting, removing the lottery aspect of networking. Matchmaking technology has completely changed the game, providing a more relaxed introduction as both parties know forming the new relationship could be extremely worthwhile. This is all possible thanks to the unprecedented rate at which Artificial Intelligence AI technology is accelerating.

CTCN, with support from the European Commission , organised a private sector matchmaking event for the National Designated Entities NDEs of Asia-Pacific, network members and climate technology service providers, including private sector and international organizations. While the G-STIC conference touched broader themes linked to SDGs Sustainable Development Goals , from health to education and climate change, it showcased practical solution from the private sector to tackle the most challenging issues of our times, from circular economy solutions, to blue technologies and carbon capture.

Divided in working groups, we brainstormed on improving MRV systems, ways to bring the NDC process to life in terms of ownership and engagement, and the types of effective technologies that could contribute to achieving the expected targets. What emerged is that despite energy planning being crucial for long-term mitigation and adaptation strategies, many NDCs still present vague and non-ambitious goals for the energy sector.

Moving forward, successive NDCs should integrate ambitious climate action of non-party stakeholders that are already implementing mitigation or adaptation measures, such as the private sector.

CTCN Climate Technology Matchmaking Event

Matchmaking is the process of matching two or more people together, usually for the purpose of marriage , but the word is also used in the context of sporting events such as boxing, in business, in online video games and in pairing organ donors. In some cultures, the role of the matchmaker was and is quite professionalised. The Ashkenazi Jewish shadchan , or the Hindu astrologer , were often thought to be essential advisors and also helped in finding right spouses as they had links and a relation of good faith with the families.

In cultures where arranged marriages were the rule, the astrologer often claimed that the stars sanctified matches that both parents approved of, making it quite difficult for the possibly-hesitant children to easily object — and also making it easy for the astrologer to collect his fee. Social dance , especially in frontier North America, the contra dance and square dance , has also been employed in matchmaking, usually informally.

However, when farming families were widely separated and kept all children on the farm working, marriage-age children could often only meet in church or in such mandated social events.
